PropTech venture capital firm MetaProp is excited to announce the addition of industry leader Maureen Waters as Partner. Waters joins the firm after spending the past three-and-a-half years as president of the real estate tech firm Ten-X, as well as senior executive roles at Bill Gates Investments and Cushman & Wakefield. With 20+ years of commercial real estate experience, Waters' unique skill set spans building and scaling successful real estate and tech teams and organizations: from inception to unicorn with extensive experience transforming businesses.

By bringing a full complement of real estate and tech expertise as well as relationships, Waters will deepen MetaProp's PropTech presence and expertise while extending their reach and in-house capabilities with strategic partners globally.  She will also strengthen existing community programs including the MetaProp Accelerator at Columbia University.

"Our firm is the connective tissue between the real estate industry and tomorrow's innovations," said MetaProp Co-Founder and Managing Partner Aaron Block. "Maureen Waters' vast experience on the frontlines of both technology and real estate will only strengthen the multitude of ways in which we support our growing ecosystem of startups and investors."

Prior to MetaProp, Waters led the strategic transformation of the private equity-backed Ten-X business. In this role, she expanded beyond the traditional ways of transacting real estate including digitizing the operating model and launching non-auction products and services. Waters previously served as Chief Commercial and Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Ten-X.

Prior to joining Ten-X, Waters was head of real estate and asset management at Bill Gates Investments. She also spent 15 years at Cushman & Wakefield, where she served as Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Head of Business Development and broker.

Before acquiring her MBA from Fordham University, Waters also co-founded a real estate consulting business that was acquired by CBRE.

"I've spent the past decade passionately embracing innovation and technology working on the transformation of the commercial real estate industry. From workflow automation to strategic partnerships that could scale processes and businesses, I believe we are at a tipping point," said Waters. "Joining the MetaProp team gives me the opportunity to fulfill my passion and play a strategic role in the global expansion of MetaProp. MetaProp values data and relationships and that perfectly captures how I see the world in the future. It couldn't be a better fit," said Waters.
