Creighton Farms Breaks Ground on New Clubhouse

(ALDIE, VA) - More than 100 members gathered June 15 on a large field at Creighton Farms, an exclusive residential golf community located in Virginia's historic Loudoun County, for the groundbreaking of a new 30,000-square-foot clubhouse. Befitting the 18 stunning golf holes designed by Jack Nicklaus and the luxurious gated community of estate homes and villas, the new clubhouse will offer breathtaking views and overlook several holes of Creighton Farms' award-winning golf course.

Since its purchase in 2009 by an affiliate of Newton, Mass.-based Southworth Development LLC, Creighton Farms has experienced many milestones, including an increase in membership of The Club at Creighton Farms by more than 100 percent; a 5,000-square-foot pavilion addition to the existing golf house where members and their guests may enjoy outdoor dining and events; a new gatehouse located on Watson Road; a new state of-the-art golf maintenance facility; a re-branded and newly renovated sales center; new homes being built - a total of nine lots sold or otherwise under agreement -  and the welcoming of the first residents into the community.

Designed with a nod to the classic American Vernacular style of architecture, the warm and welcoming clubhouse at Creighton Farms will be reminiscent of the rich tradition of the Virginia Piedmont, providing members and their guests a setting of refined yet relaxed elegance befitting of one of the nation's finest clubs. The tri-level clubhouse's main floor features a pub, a grille room capable of seating up to 175 guests, a fully stocked golf shop, a library, and a billiards room. The lower level will consist of men's and ladies' locker rooms, each with separate lounges and steam rooms, along with a state-of-the-art fitness center. Located on the upper level will be 10 beautifully appointed club rooms, providing members and their guests with overnight accommodations that are second to none. Construction is now underway at on the clubhouse at Creighton Farms, with a completion date set for August of 2011.

Billy Casper Golf Picked to Manage New Westham Golf Club

(MOSELEY, VA) - Billy Casper Golf has been selected to manage the operations at the soon-to-be-opened Westham Golf Club just southwest of downtown Richmond. The Nicklaus Design and Tom Clark layout serves as the centerpiece of Magnolia Green - a resort-style community planned for 3,550 homes and future commercial and retail uses.

Single family homes in phase one are now being built and sold by H H Hunt Homes and Ryan Homes.The golf course represents Billy Casper's 115th property under management in 26 states.

Supervising grow-in of the new golf course, Billy Casper is scheduled open nine holes of the planned 18-hole championship course to the public on July 1.

"Billy Casper Golf takes great pride in completing and launching Westham," says Peter Hill, chief executive of Billy Casper.  "With a phenomenal course design and our customer-centric approach, this promises to evolve into one of the best-loved courses in the Richmond-area."

Westham is Billy Casper's 10th property in Virginia and 25th in the Mid-Atlantic region.

BCG will manage all aspects of Westham's golf course and golf-course maintenance, staffing and training, food-and-beverage operations, merchandising, player programs, marketing and public relations, golf instruction and special events.

"We are excited to partner with Billy Casper Golf," says Robert M. Atack, president of Atack Properties, Inc., local representative of Moseley TRS, owner of Magnolia Green and Westham. "Westham golfers and residents will benefit from the company's strength overseeing courses from grow-in through completion and operation."

Westham features wide-open Bermuda-grass fairways with undulating terrain and elevation changes providing challenges for golfers of all skill levels. Wildlife is abundant and streams have been fully-restored and lined with native shrubs and grasses to create the natural and environmentally-friendly course.

The No. 2 hole - a mid-length, par-4 with a receptive landing area - is Wesham's signature hole. When all 18 holes are open, it will be re-routed as No. 18, making for a spectacular finish. A challenging downhill second shot into a heavily protected green that slopes from back to front will grab the attention of even the most seasoned golfer.

A well-appointed, temporary structure will serve as clubhouse until construction is complete on the actual building. Limited food and beverage and retail operation will be available.
