Today Sheraton Hotels & Resorts announced the culmination of a $35-million renovation to Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok's largest Starwood hotel (NYSE: HOT) that is located by the Chao Phraya River.

Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers' extensive renovation is part of a $6 billion brand-wide global revitalization effort, which includes upgrading 180 hotels around the world; renovating 70,000 guestrooms; and introducing new, innovative features.

Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers is the first Starwood Hotels & Resorts property in Thailand to open its doors, 27 years ago on the legendary Captain Bush Lane or Charoen Krung Road (New Road) -- the first road ever in Bangkok, which marks its 150-year anniversary this month.

To celebrate this milestone, Wayne Buckingham, Starwood's Regional Vice President Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam together with Surakiat Limcharoen, Director of Bangrak District, will launch a series of community services under the project, "Journey Through Time" -- with the objective to level up and revive the legend of the riverside area.

The largest Sheraton hotel in Thailand, Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers boasts 726 guestrooms and suites and 133,000 square feet of meeting space. "We are incredibly excited to showcase an entirely new guest experience through this comprehensive and exciting renovation of the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers," said Tina Liu, Hotel Manager for the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers.

With inspiration from the brand's rich heritage, the guestrooms have been renovated into living spaces that are as pleasing functionally as they are aesthetically. Signature Sheraton features, which include exclusive amenities and the industry-leading Sweet Sleeper bed, complement the warm, residential style.  Each room features a 42" LCD flat-panel television, oversized work desks and comfortable seating. All rooms now contain Sheraton's newly launched spa product, 'Shine by Sheraton' as standard bathroom amenities, a state-of-the-art entertainment system, and an upgraded high-speed internet connection to ensure that out of town does not mean out of reach.

Solely for the use of Towers' guests, the new Towers Lounge has been relocated to the 27th floor, offering stupendous views of Bangkok and the River of Kings. The luxurious design combined with the latest business amenities will provide both our corporate and leisure guests everything they need to connect to work and home. The Towers Executive Rooms were elegantly designed to fuse the contemporary world with traditional Thai architecture, allowing guests to relive a legend in a new way.
