Majorca Gears up for Busy Vacation Season

(PALMA, MAJORCA) -- The gorgeous Spanish Island of Majorca (also known as Mallorca), a popular holiday destination for Brits and Europeans alike lured by the island's charm, sophistication and diversity, is currently gearing up for a jam packed summer on the sea.

As the longest running super yacht regatta in Europe, the annual Super yacht Cup has drawn in over 200 sailing super yachts to the occasion since it began back in 1996, gathering the world's largest and most impressive privately owned super yachts to Palma every year to participate in the four-day invitation only event.

For the more adventurous sailor, Majorca will also be the launch pad and finishing point for the Global Ocean Race 20011-12 which will see entries from various nations battle it out on some of the planets toughest waters. That race, scheduled from Sept. 25 to May 2012, is expected to attract thousands of sports fans from across the globe to the golden island.
