A 10.2-acre compound once owned by trail-blazing Hollywood executive Dawn Steel has hit the market, priced at $34.5 million.

The property, perched on a hillside above the exclusive enclave, is a rarity for the area. The secluded setting, accessible by a private drive, offers views of the surrounding area and it is one of the few properties in Beverly Hills zoned for horses and includes stables.

Ms. Steel, who died in 1997, was the first woman to run a major Hollywood Studio, Columbia Pictures. Her producing credits include "Top Gun," "Footloose" and "Fatal Attraction."

The property, built in 1939, is one of "the most significant compounds in the United States" and is "reminiscent of Hollywood's Golden Era," according to the listing.

The Monterrey Colonial-style main house features six bedrooms and five bathrooms, with multiple fireplaces, expansive hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings. A wood-paneled dining room was designed by Michael Smith. The property also features two large guest houses and additional staff quarters.

"This estate offers unparalleled views, along with the charm of an original Beverly Hills home," said listing agent Aaron Kirman, president of Aaroe Estates. "It also comes with some amazing Hollywood history in a peaceful hilltop setting
