The Newport Beach, California house once owned by Hollywood legend John Wayne is on sale for $3.95 million.

Sitting on an oversized lot in the gated community of Big Canyon, the 4,500-square-foot home is for the "most discriminating buyer with the finest of tastes," according to the listing.

The simple house features three bedrooms, four baths, a gym, "classic" library with wood paneling, and a three-car garage. It's located on the Big Canyon Golf Course and offers outdoor living spaces with golf-course views.

The current owners purchased the property in 2011 for $1.775 million and have since renovated the home and its grounds. The makeover cost was about the same as the 2011 sales price, the WSJ reports. New additions include marble and limestone fireplaces and new subflooring. Outside, the owners added fountains, an 80-foot-tall water wall and a fire pit.
