(DUBAI, U.A.E.) -- Landscaping around the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building, is ready with the building due to open on January 4, 2010.  The 800-meter Burj is surrounded by 11 hectares called The Park that includes fountains, pools, green gardens, and flowering trees.

Burj Dubai is the center of Emaar Properties' 500-acre development called Downtown Burj Dubai. It includes Dubai Mall, one of the world's largest shopping and leisure centers, residential towers, several hotels, and office buildings. The first Armani Hotel occupies several floors of the Burj Dubai.

Linked by the theme A Tower in a Park, the landscaping of The Park serves the hotel, residential, spa, and office areas of the Burj Dubai tower complex. The greenery is irrigated by condensation recovered from the Burj's cooling system and will provide enough water to fill 20 Olympic size swimming pools each year.

Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman, Emaar Properties, said, "The design of The Park is also inspired by the core design concepts of Burj Dubai, based on the symmetries of the desert flower, Hymenocalis, and regional motifs."

Fountains, palm fringed walkways and flowering trees surround water features with roads leading to the hotel and residential arrival courts. Each walkway has a mix of flowering trees, green shrubs, and ground covers. Plants include evergreen ficuses, cassias, royal poincianas, and bougainvilleas while acacias, yellow elders, and chaste trees add to the shrub and ground cover.

The Park exemplifies the teamwork that created Burj Dubai with Skidmore Owings and Merrill, the Chicago-based architects who designed Burj Dubai, and SWA Group from California. WET, designers of The Dubai Fountain, the world's tallest performing fountain, developed the park's six water features.
