Dubai offers the best lifestyle factors for people looking to relocate or invest, according to a global lifestyle report from Knight Frank.

Based on lifestyle factors as climate, education, leisure pursuits and the availability of quality restaurants, Dubai topped the list with the highest mark in three of the four categories. The emirate beat popular locations such as the Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, and Nassau.

Palma de Mallorca, Cayman Islands and Geneva tied for second, followed by Cyprus.

The majority of the more traditional locations did well in certain categories but were further down the list in others, the report found.

"This gave us a clear message that if you want to find the best location across the board, providing there was a reasonable presentation in each category, consistency was key," Knight Frank said in the report.

No city in the U.S. made Knight Frank's list for best locations.

The lifestyle report also highlighted people's common motivation for international investment or relocation.

The business traveler, or entrepreneur seeks political stability, ease of travel, good climate and restaurant options. The location most fitting for the business traveler is Auckland, Knight Frank found.

Geneva was the top choice for families looking relocate, receiving high marks for education and security.

Meanwhile, quality of life, cost of living and personal security are the major drivers for retirees, the report found. Those factors are best found in Auckland, Ottawa and Mallorca, according to the agency.
