Anchor Hotel Named for Huge Miami Project

Swire Properties has announced its East hotel brand will anchor the $1.05 billion mixed-use Brickell CityCentre development in downtown Miami.

The Miami hotel will be the first property in the U.S. for the Swire Hotel brand, which is billed as a "lifestyle business hotel." East currently has locations in Hong Kong and Beijing; the Miami hotel will be managed by Swire Hotels, a business division of Hong Kong-based Swire Properties.

Swire_logo.jpgThe 5.4-million-square-foot Brickell CityCentre will feature residences, retail, offices, hotel, and entertainment space covering 9.1 acres.
 
"Interest on the part of hospitality companies in flagging the Brickell CityCentre hotel has been keen," Stephen Owens, president of Swire Properties Inc., said in a release. "We were ultimately able to select from among ten upscale hotel brands in choosing Swire Hotels' East for our flagship."

Scheduled to open in 2015, the 218,000-square-foot East will feature 263 guest rooms and 89 apartments.
 
Swire Hotels was created to manage urban hotels in Hong Kong, mainland China and the United Kingdom. Current properties include The Opposite House, Beijing; The Upper House, in Pacific Place, Hong Kong: and The Temple House due to open in Chengdu in 2014.

Swire opened the 345-room East hotel in Hong Kong in 2010. The 369-room East, Beijing, part of the Indigo in Jiangtai, opened in September 2012.
